Timeline: the daily history game
Timeline gives you a handful of moments from history with their dates hidden, and you put them in order. Inventions, wars, discoveries, sport and culture, from ancient Egypt to the 2020s. One event is placed for you to start; the rest are up to you.
Play today's Timeline →How to play
- Look at the event card and the timeline below it, oldest on the left and newest on the right.
- Drag the card into the gap where you think it belongs, or tap a gap to drop it there.
- Right, and it locks in green with its year shown. Wrong, and it slides to its true place in red and you lose a life.
- Place all seven cards with at least one of your three lives left to win the day.
Scoring
- The regular game has seven cards to place; Easy has five, all from 1900 on and well known.
- The share grid shows a green or red square for each card, so friends see where you slipped.
- Events from the same year count as right on either side of each other.
Tips
- Every placed card is a new landmark. Use the years you've already revealed to judge the next card.
- When you're unsure, think about what had to come first: the telephone before the radio, the radio before television.
- A wrong card still shows you its true year, which often settles the next one.
