Two things worth knowing before you write in. Progress is stored on the device you played on and doesn’t sync between the website and the app — the iOS app’s optional account keeps your results for friends to see, but it isn’t a way to restore a lost streak. And every puzzle is generated from the date, so everyone gets the same one: if a puzzle looks wrong to you, it looked that way for everybody, and we’d like to hear about it.

Hemiscope is made by Kyro Game Studios. No publisher, no ad agency picking placements — just a small studio building daily puzzle games.

Where the country data comes from

Country facts (population, area, capitals, flags, government, climate, borders) start from the public restcountries.com dataset and are hand-curated on top for accuracy and to fix gaps in the raw data. Figures like population and area reflect the most recent published snapshot of that dataset — they can lag real-world changes by a year or more, and if you spot one that looks wrong, it’s worth a second look rather than taken as gospel.

Where the history data comes from

Timeline draws from a fact-checked set of historical events built specifically for the game, each with a verified year. It’s not exhaustive — it’s a curated slice, not an encyclopedia.

Where the photos come from

Ladder shows a photograph for each of its six entries. Most are freely licensed images from Wikimedia Commons, whose licences ask that the photographer be credited — every one of them is named on the photo credits page, alongside its licence and a link back to the original. Country flags come from flagcdn.com and are public-domain national flags.

How the daily puzzle works

Each day’s puzzle is generated deterministically from the date, so everyone playing on a given day gets the same one. There’s no account, no server round-trip to fetch your puzzle, and no personal data involved in picking it — see the Privacy page for the full picture of what is and isn’t stored.
